Clinical Utility

  • M3Clinician is a Portal solution; there is no software to install, no server to maintain and no infrastructure to worry about.
  • M3Clinician is "hands free"; the patient rates the e-checklist while waiting to see the provider.
  • M3Clinician's evidenced-based checklist provides decision support at the point of care. Research published in the Annals of Family Medicine demonstrates how the M3 matches the power of four highly regarded single disease assessments (PHQ-9, GAD-7, MDQ & CAPS).
  • M3Clinician's longitudinal monitoring system can stand alone or as part of a more fully-integrated practice management, EMR, PHR solution.
  • M3Clinician lends context & meaning to the timely detection and treatment of Mood and Anxiety Disorders, as well as Alcohol and Substance Abuse problems. Early detection prevents disease progression, hospitalizations, ED visits, and suicide.

Patient-Centered Care

  • M3Clinician’s patient-rated assessment and longitudinal monitoring facilitates the patient's participation in a collaborative and personalized way.
  • M3Clinician initiates and fosters meaningful dialogue between the PCP and the patient.
  • M3Clinician encourages patients to feel that, for any life problem they bring to their PCP, they have come to the right place.

Evidence-based Approach

  • M3Clinician, an automated evidenced based assessment, matched the utility of four mono-diagnostic assessments; the PHQ-9 for depression, the GAD-7 for anxiety, the CAPS for PTSD, and the MDQ for bipolar disorder.
  • M3Clinician synthesizes the patient-rated checklist responses with up-to-date medical knowledge in ways that make sense for the provider.
  • M3Clinician has been proven to reduce non-diagnosis, misdiagnoses, mistreatment and delays in treatment.

Integrated Care

  • As many as 70% of primary-care visits are triggered by underlying mental-health issues but patients often don't raise the issue and providers are too busy to ask. Because the vast majority of primary care patients have a physical ailment affected by stress or mental disorder, studies show it is clinically-sound and cost-effective to make Mental Health a part of primary care.
  • M3Clinician is the structural realization of the bio-psycho-social model advocated so broadly in Family Medicine and Psychiatry. As evidence grows about the complex interrelationship between mind, brain and body, it is clear that the artificial divisions that have fragmented healthcare delivery fail to serve our patients. In order to provide high-quality care, we must create strong partnerships that allow for collaborative practice.
  • M3Clinician promotes a stronger doctor-patient alliance. Patients often underestimate the degree to which mood and anxiety symptoms hinder functioning and impair health. The M3 fosters among patients the feeling that, for any life problem they bring to their PCP, they have come to the right place.

Annual Wellness Visit

If you're a primary care clinician, it is safe to assume that you will see an increased volume of Medicare patients seeking newly covered preventive services. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) entitles all Medicare beneficiaries to an Initial Preventive Physician Exam (IPPE) and subsequent annual wellness visit (AWV) as of January 1, 2011. Fortunately, health professionals have a choice among various standardized assessmenting tests including M3Clinician.

Clinician automates and/or optimizes:
  • Assessment, Decision Support and Patient-rated Monitoring for Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder & PTSD, and their associated risk factors, including Alcohol & Substance Abuse.
  • Providing personalized health advice and/or arrange care with other qualified professionals.
  • Establishing a 5- to 10-year assessmenting schedule.

Eligible Providers
  • The IPPE exam can be performed by a clinician or qualified non-clinician provider.
  • An AWV may be rendered by a clinician; a qualified non-clinician provider (nurse practitioner, clinician assistant or clinical nurse specialist) or health professionals such as a health educator, registered dietitian, nutrition professional, other licensed practitioner or by a team of medical professionals working under the direct supervision of a clinician.
Coding and Reimbursement
Correct coding is essential to avoid denials for these preventive visits.
  • The code for the IPPE is G0402 (preventive physical examination; face to face visit, services limited to new beneficiary during the first 12 months of Medicare enrollment).
  • The code for the initial AWV is G0438 (annual wellness visit, including personalized prevention plan services (PPPS), first visit);
  • The subsequent AWV is coded as G0439
  • Reimbursement for the G0438 has been established at the rate for a 99204; for the G0439, it a 99214.
  • The reimbursement for the AWV is based on rendering the provider's National Provider Identification (NPI) number.

Reimbursement

  • Assessment for psychiatric illness is expected to increase as coverage mandates in the new health care law, for both private and public insurance programs, go into effect over the next few years.
  • M3Clinician is reimbursed in most instances under CPT code 99420 (i.e. health risk assessment).

Inter Operatability
